August 14, 1922 — March 13, 2015

Meyer Grojean, 92, passed away on March 13, 2015. Meyer was born on August 14, 1922 to Gregory and Josephine-Meyer Grojean near Dutchtown, Mo., on the farm which has been in his mother’s family since 1876. He was the oldest of four sons.

Meyer graduated from College High School in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.

Meyer proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, earning three bronze stars for his service as a radio technician in the New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon campaigns.

Following the war, Meyer met his future wife, Aline A. McFerron of Jackson, Mo. They were married in April 1946 and had one son, Timothy Meyer.

In 1949, the young couple left Southeast Missouri when Meyer joined AT&T at its St. Louis office in Shrewsbury, Mo. He remained in company management the remainder of his professional career, working in the AT&T offices in Kansas City, White Plains, N.Y., and Minneapolis. Following retirement in 1988, he and Aline moved to Sarasota, Fla.

His wife Aline, son Timothy, and brothers Joseph and Gerald preceded Meyer in death. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Shirley Grojean (Jackson, Mo.); sister-in-law Jane Grojean (Dutchtown); daughter-in-law Renée Grojean (Leawood, Kan.); nephews Joe and Sasha Grojean (Dutchtown), Greg and Margaret Grojean (Crystal Lake, Ill.), Mike and Donna Grojean (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and David Joseph and Carol Grojean (Mercer Island, Wash.), and numerous other relatives and friends.

Meyer was a former member of the Cathedral of St. Mary in Cape Girardeau and, most recently, The Church of the Nativity in Leawood, Kan.

Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. on March 19 at Ford and Sons, Jackson, Mo., followed by funeral at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Boys Town or the Cathedral of St. Mary.
