Michael Gene Payton, 67, passed away on February 20, 2013, at home. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 25, 2013, beginning at 6 pm followed by a visitation at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS.
Mike was born September 29, 1945 in Kansas City. He was a Vietnam Veteran and considered himself to be a "Jack of all trades but a master of none." He was everything from a radio DJ to an electrician to a draftsman in the Army. His favorite past times included collecting paper money and Vietnam Artifacts and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Payton, his mother, Catherine Payton, his sister, Kathleen Turner and his nephew, Joshua Payton.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia and her husband Terry Sutton, daughter, Michelle Irvine, his grandchildren; Skeye Soll, Rylan Sutton, Hunter Sutton, Abigail Sutton, Joshua Sutton, Kaitlyn Sutton, and Chloe Irvine, and a great granddaughter, Savannah Soll. As well as his brothers; Ray, Charles, John, Mark and James Payton, sister, Mary Buckingham and many nieces and nephews.
