Michelle L. Martin

Michelle Lynne Martin, 43, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Advent Health Shawnee Mission Medical Center.  Michelle is survived by her daughter Olivia, and her mother, Marcia.  Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens at 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas.  Please be at the front entrance of the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. for the drive through the cemetery to the service location.

Michelle lived for her daughter, Olivia.  For the many trips to dance lessons at Miller Marley School of Dance and Voice, to recitals, rehearsals, and many multiple locations around Kansas City to watch Olivia perform.  Michelle would sit and grin from ear to ear watching each year as Olivia progressed in her technique of dancing.  She was very excited last March that Olivia finally got to dance at Disney World.  This is Michelle’s favorite place on earth.  For all that knew Michelle besides living for Olivia, she lived for her love of Disney.  When the end of a trip would come, she would start the planning for the next trip for the next year.  Michelle’s love of Disney was not to go on rides, but she would say “This place gives my heart such happiness.  This is where I’m able to forget about my health issues and feel free of them.”  She always joked about Goofy was her man.

As her mom, somedays I just don’t know how Michelle did it.  Olivia and I say people didn’t realize what a struggle it was for her to work such long hours and have no complaints.  She worked for North American Savings Bank for 17 years.  However, Michelle wanted to provide for Olivia and most of the time put herself last unless it was Disney Dooney and Bourke purses.  Those were her weakness.

Michelle loved her pets.  Even her love of Disney showed up as their pet names.  She has a Corgi named Captain Jack Sparrow and two cats named Chip and Dale.

Michelle would want us all to take care of ourselves and take care of each other.  Be kind in your words even if you are having a bad day.  You never know what the other person is hiding from you.  Michelle, you can rest in peace now.  Your daughter and mom love you so much.
