Mildred L. Jackson passed away May 13, 2017. She was born December 27, 1929 in Hepler, Kansas to John H. and Dora (Mahnken) Mein. She married Darrell Jackson on August 27, 1950 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hepler, Kansas. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1958. She was a bookkeeper for several Banks and Financial Investment companies before she and her husband started their trucking business, D J Transfer Co. Inc. in 1971, retiring in December 1992. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with all family and many old friends in 2000.
Mildred was a strong, loving woman with a deep faith. She battled the residuals of Guillian Barre since 1961, but enjoyed a full and productive life. In the family tradition, she loved taking trips to the family farm with the grandchildren after she and Darrell retired. She enjoyed her yard, watering the flowers, pulling out the offending weeds and keeping the house looking pristine always. The grandkids knew to get in the cookie drawer for the goodies that were there. She always had something sweet for them.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church (Mo. Synod). She had been a member at Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee, Kansas since 1963.
Surviving are two daughters: Shari VanLerberg, Shawnee, Kansas and Lori (Gilbert) Lupercio, Merriam, Kansas; five grandchildren, Salvatore (Mary) VanLerberg, Kyle (Sarah) Lupercio, RJ (Taylor) VanLerberg, Kristina (Charles) Morgan, and Kimberly Lupercio; one step-granddaughter, Shannon (Keith) Canant; three step great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brody Canant, Brenna Spurgeon; three great-grandsons, Mason and Jackson Lupercio, and Connor VanLerberg, with another one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell G. Jackson on July 18, 2004 and son-in-law Robert VanLerberg in 2014.
