Mildred Jennings

Mildred D. Jennings, 91, Emporia, formerly of Belton, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009, at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. A visitation will begin an hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Mildred was born September 7, 1918. She served in the First Women's Army Corps from 1943 to 1945. She was in the sewing business in the 1970s and owned her own business after the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frances Thomas; second husband, Conrad Jennings, and eight siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Julia (Jerald) Crowell; stepdaughter Ruth Jennings; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and two brothers. Arrangements: D.W.
