Mildred L. ("Millie") Holland, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away October 30, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. After arriving in the United States from Czechoslovakia as a young girl, Millie attended the Rhodes School in New York City graduating with a diploma in accounting. She then went to work for the National Industrial Conference Board in New York City before resigning her position in 1945 to proudly serve her country as a member of the Women's Army Corps where she attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. Upon her discharge in 1948, she attended the University of Oklahoma, where she met her husband Bill, and earned a B.S. in Education from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas. She was a teacher, homemaker, loving wife and mother, and lifelong collector of antiques. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, D.W. "Bill" Holland. She is survived by her daughter Carol McCartney and husband Dan of Overland Park, Kansas. Private family services will be in Edmond, Oklahoma with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
