Mildred B. (Harms) Meinhold died July 26, 2020, in Palm Desert, CA, hospice, with her sons Don and Paul present.
She was born August 28, 1921, in Fairbury, Illinois, to Henry H. Harms and Charlotte (Jacobs) Harms. Mildred (Millie) graduated as valedictorian from Anchor Community High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from Illinois State (Normal) University, majoring in Home Economics. While in college, she met her future husband, Donald, and they were married, June 30, 1944 in Stuttgart, Arkansas where Donald was serving with the Army Air Corps.
Millie taught Home Economics in Illinois for several years and was a Rutgers University Extension agent for Morris County New Jersey until 1973 when the family relocated to the Kansas City area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Floyd and Stanley, sisters Doris Ann, Ruth (Meiners), Lois (Gleason) and Joanne (Otto-Rettke), husband Donald and daughter, Marjorie (Mangum).
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Don and Janice, of Denver, Colorado, and Paul and Jana, of Palm Desert, California and son-in-law, William Mangum of Leawood, Kansas; nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is tentatively planned for May 2021, in Overland Park, Kansas, where she will be inurned with husband Donald.
Millie lived a long and full life and is now at rest with those she loved who passed before.
