Minerva Lois James Mundis
Lois, 84, Overland Park passed away on September 17, 2007 at Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 19th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 20th at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145, would be welcomed.
Lois was born November 22, 1922 in Dawn, MO to J.J. and Leta James. The family moved to Kansas City, MO where she attended Westport High School, then St. Luke?s School of Nursing. She married her husband Bill of 62 years on December 7, 1944 in Mount Vernon, Idaho. At the end of World War II, Bill and Lois returned to Kansas City where Lois worked as a Registered Nurse at Saint Luke?s Hospital on the post partum floor for many years. Lois and Bill lived in Overland Park, and Leawood, Kansas from 1950 until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Lois is survived by her son Richard James Mundis MD of Leawood, KS, her sister Mary Leta Harrell of Kansas City, MO, her daughter in law Martha Breckinridge of Kansas City, MO, and her grandson Breck Mundis, of Lawrence, KS. She also leaves two step-grandchildren, Natalie Pattison of Overland Park, and Grant Pattison of San Francisco, CA.
