Miriam Ann Ubben, 53, passed away Saturday, April 24th in Kansas City, Kansas after a courageous battle with cancer. Miriam was born on October 14th, 1956 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was a graduate of South Hamilton High School.
Miriam left behind many friends and loved ones, including her fiancé, Terry Jarvis of Leawood, Kansas. Miriam is also survived by her father, Enoch Hall of Story City, Iowa; two sons, Jason of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jeremiah, his wife Brandie, and two grandchildren, Clayton and Ryland of Huxley, Iowa; two brothers, Nathan Hall of Atlanta, Georgia and Dan Hall of Santee, California. She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Hall and her sister, Naomi Oliver.
Miriam was a graduate of Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa. Her professional career began when she accepted a position with Hamilton County S.E.E.D. in Webster City, Iowa. Later she worked for the Iowa Department of Economic Development, was President of Software and Information Technology of Iowa and was Director and President of the Greater Iowa Technology Enterprise. Miriam moved to the Kansas City area as President of the “Software and Information Technology Association of Kansas”. Miriam enjoyed working in a capacity that enhanced the experience for new businesses in the state and had an impact on legislation for the greater good of the community where she resided. Miriam was admired by all who knew her for her intelligence, her positive attitude, and her ability to get things done. The level of commitment to the various causes she championed was recognized by her friends, co-workers and the community.
A memorial service will be held at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, Kansas on Thursday, April 29th at 2:00 PM. A second service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, Iowa on Friday, April 30th. (Time will be later announced in the Des Moines Register). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society designated for Breast Cancer Research.
Miriam loved life, always thought of others first, and saw the positive in people. She will be deeply missed by so many that loved her.
