Morine Iris (Haas) Kempin, 82, of Overland Park, KS passed into the loving arms of Jesus on August 12, 2016.
Morine was born on August 4, 1934 in Enterprise, KS to Ira and Mildred Haas. She grew up in Dickinson County, KS and graduated from Hope High School in 1952. The following year, Morine graduated from Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina, KS. She was working in Manhattan, KS when she met her husband, Carl Kempin. They were married in 1957 and settled in Overland Park, KS in 1965. Morine retired from Wallace Saunders Law Firm in 2000, after 22 years of service in the billing department. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she served the Lord in many ways including Stephen Ministry, LWML, and Rebekah Circle. Morine’s greatest joy was serving her family. She loved preparing meals and especially desserts, attending grandkids’ activities, playing all kinds of games, and cheering on the Wildcats, Royals, and Chiefs. Morine was a loving, beautiful, kind, generous woman who was cherished and loved by everyone who knew her. She lived a life of faith, joy, grace, and courage, even through her year-long battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Morine was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Carl Kempin, and her twin sister, Maxine Goracke and her husband Dwane of Wichita, KS. Also surviving are son, Bruce Kempin, and wife Suzie of Overland Park, KS and daughter Carla Palmer, and husband Brian of Olathe, KS. Grandchildren surviving her are David Kempin of Wichita, KS, Matthew Kempin and wife Lesley of Wichita, KS, Brian Kempin and wife Kelsey of Charlottesville, VA, Scott Kempin and wife Abbie of Fort Collins, CO, and John Palmer and Elizabeth Palmer of Olathe, KS.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Ave, Overland Park, KS. Interment will immediately follow the service at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. before the service.
