Muffet Triggs

May 30, 1925 — March 15, 2018

Muffet Merrell Triggs passed away at her home on March 15, 2018.  Muffet was born May 30,1925 in Clarendon, Texas to Muffet and Louie Merrell. She graduated from Texas Women’s College with degrees in Piano and Music Supervision. Muffet and Leon A. Triggs Jr were united in Marriage in 1946, he preceded her in death in 2004.

Muffet pursued many interests, including working in the family insurance business, the arts, music and travel.  Her love of sculpture began in San Miguel de Allende Mexico, where she spent many winters taking art classes.  Her sculptures may be found throughout the U.S. She enjoyed a life of learning by following her creed “the joy of learning.”  As a world traveler she approached life with anticipation, humor, and steadfastness always with her “onward and upward” Texas attitude. In later life she traveled extensively with her longtime friend Clark Randall.

Muffet was a member of many clubs including: Greater Kansas City Artists Association, Fireside Committee of K.C. Art Institute and Wives of Rotarians.  She was a devoted member of the Church of the Resurrection and a founding member of their art guild.

Survivors are her daughter Muffet Harmon and her husband Tom of Kansas City, and Clearwater Florida, her son Lee M Triggs of Leawood. Grandchildren Muffet Eskra and her husband Todd of Overland Park, Thomas Harmon and his wife Vicki of Franklin, TN, Lexee Triggs and Taylor Triggs of Lenexa. Great grandchildren Elton Harmon, Lauren Harmon, Chase Harmon, Joshua Eskra and Clayton Eskra.

A memorial celebration of her life will be on Saturday April 14th 10:00 AM, in the new sanctuary, at the Church of the Resurrection 13720 Roe Avenue Leawood, Kansas. A visitation will be held following the service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Saint Paul School of Theology 4370 W 109 St #300 Leawood, KS 66211
