MYRTLE M. YERKE
Myrtle Marie Yerke, (93) died on September 28, 2010. She was born January 18, 1917 in Lake Linden, MI to Louis and Diana Remillard. Mrs. Yerke spent her childhood and young adult life in Detroit where she met her husband, Don Yerke, who has preceded her in death. She and her husband lived in many cities including South Bend, Indianapolis, Cleveland, New York and St. Louis. They spent the last years in Kansas City, while maintaining a home in Suttons Bay, MI. Myrt was an active member of the Kansas City Garden Club where she won numerous awards for her floral designs.
She leaves behind two daughters, Sandra (Chuck) Imperatori of Fairfield, CA and Suzi (Mike) Reecht of Leawood, KS. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Curtis (Amy) Newborn, of Palatine, IL, Chris (Jenni) Reecht of Overland Park, KS and Carrie (Will) Votypka of Olathe, KS; as well as, three great granddaughters and two step great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Friday, October 1 at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park, KS, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at the church. Entombment to follow in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Susan G. Comen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
