Nancy L. (Burns) Mitts, passed away November 2, 2016. She was born August 21, 1935 in Topeka, Kansas to Otis (Bob) and Lucille Burns. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1953 where she was a member of the marching and concert bands.
She attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
As a Zeta alumnae of Sigma chapter, she was privileged to serve the collegiate chapter as their general advisor during the time they were awarded the highest award given by the national sorority. She later served on their alumni house board. She was given the Alumnae Certificate of Merit by the national sorority in recognition of outstanding service.
She is survived by her brother, Ronald B. Burns and her sister-in-law, Sharon Hill of Lee's Summit, two nieces, one nephew, four great nephews and one great niece.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Kindred Hospice for their untiring assistance during Nancy’s last illness.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:30AM at Johnson County
Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. All guests, meet in the funeral home parking lot at 10:15AM so that we can go up to the gravesite in procession.
