Nancy R. Connell, age 89, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24th at Church of the Ascension, 9510 West 127th Street, Overland Park. Cremation, inurnment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy’s memory are suggested to your favorite charity. Nancy was born April 1, 1919 to Gilbert Homer and Alice Pearl "Sally" Ruggles Rankin in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in Fresno, California and graduated from Redlands University in 1940. After college, she worked in the San Francisio Bay area until she joined the faculty at Nebreska Wesleyn in Lincoln Nebraska. Nancy was united in marriage to Robert H. Connell on January 1, 1947. She and Bob returned to California to raise their four daughters. After a corporate transfer to Dallas, Texas for Bob, Nancy worked as speech therapist in the Plano School District. One last transfer for Bob and they retired in Houston, Texas where she continued her associations with church groups, such as the Cenacle Retreat House and Theresians. After their retirement they spent many years in Fairfield Bay Arkansas and Albuquerque New Mexico before moving to Overland Park Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and oldest daughter Kathleen "Katie" Connell. Nancy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert H. Connell, her brother Gilbert Rankin; daughter Priscilla "Gene" Wall and her husband Craig; daughter C. Robin Connell and her partner Mary Catherine Casey; daughter Deborah Connell-Cruse and her husband Robert . Additional survivors include her grandchildren Katherine Wall; Margaret Wall and Matthew Connell.

Nancy will be remembered for her quest for knowledge; sense of adventure and kindness to others.
