Nancy Harriman, “Nanny”, 69, passed away peacefully December 4, 2014 surrounded by her family and loved ones.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Ascension Catholic Church on December 12, 2014 at 10:00 am. The church is located at 9510 West 127th Street, Overland Park, Kansas.  Entombment will immediately follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  Donations in her name can be made to Kansas City Hospice.  Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at www.johnsoncountychapel.com.
Nancy was born on May 2, 1945 to William and Nellie (Nancy) Anderson in Kansas City, Kansas.  She was married to John Francis Harriman on February 5, 1966.  She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in Education and taught in the KCK and Shawnee Mission school districts.  She loved the Kansas Jayhawks, enjoyed going out with friends, and loved spending time with her family as well as her students.  She instilled the importance of education to all, but routinely reiterated the importance to her children and grandchildren.  She had a love for all animals and had pets that included dogs, cats and even frogs.  Holiday meals and celebrations at home were a passion of hers.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Nellie (Nancy) Anderson; brother, Donald Carlson; and her husband, John Francis Harriman.  She is survived by her children Sean (Sherry) and Kevin (Jeanette) Harriman.  She is also survived by her sister Teresa (Bob) Hamlet and grand children Ryan, Tyler, Chase and Alexa.
