Nancy Kay Kendall, 76, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away December 1, 2014, at Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village. She was born March 17, 1938 in Everest, Kansas, the daughter of Carleton L. and Hazel Bartlett Gilliland. She married Forrest H. (Skip) Kendall, Jr., M.D., on August 7, 1959 at Holton Methodist Church in Holton, Kansas.
Nancy was a 1956 graduate of Holton High School, and earned a B.S. in Education from the University of Kansas in 1960. She was a teacher at Indian Hills Junior High, and was later a certified paralegal. As a member of Junior League she was instrumental in establishing the first Ronald McDonald House at KU Medical Center in 1981.
Nancy loved animals and had pets her whole life. She was an avid gardener who loved roses and orchids. She enjoyed traveling and went on many wonderful vacations with her husband. She was a loving mother and grandmother and spent many memorable play dates with all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest, and three sons, Forrest H. (Trey) Kendall III (Cindy) of Overland Park; Brad Kendall (Kelly) of Prairie Village; and Chris Kendall of Winnetka, Illinois; and seven grandchildren, Lauren Barker (Will) of Houston, Texas, and Ryan Kendall of Overland Park; Grant, Brooks and Lucy Kendall of Prairie Village; Charlie and Cody Kendall of Winnetka, Illinois, and her sister, Jeanne (Bryce) Robinson of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road in Prairie Village, on Wednesday, December 10, at 10 a.m.
