Nancy Wigton, of Overland Park, KS died on her 95th birthday, Sept. 27, 2018. Nancy was born in Olean N.Y. on Sept. 27, 1923. She grew up in Oklahoma City, OK with her loving parents Ida and Walter Lane and brothers, Bob and Jim Lane. She attended Classen High School and went on to Oklahoma City University where she became a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. During WWII, Nancy worked at Will Rogers Air Field where she met a pilot, Irvin Wigton. She and Irv married February 1946 after he returned from is overseas duty as a reconnaissance pilot. They had 3 children, Janet, Nanette, and Douglas born while in Oklahoma City. Nancy decided to stay at home and be the best homemaker ever. The family later moved to Sioux City, IA, Memphis, TN, and Omaha, NE. Nancy & Irv finally settled in Overland Park, KS in 1974.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Irvin and her daughter, Janet Borszich (Jerry). She is survived by Nanette Roque (Juan) and Douglas Wigton (Sally). Grandchildren are Janet’s children, Carissa Beyer (Shawn); children Hana and Owen, Amanda Dimitrov; daughter Vian, and Ryan Borszich (Callie); children Calvin and Niles. Nanette’s children are Ana Marston (Woody); children Grayson and Miranda, Sean Roque (Denise); daughter Gabriella, Marcus Roque (Heather); children Harper and Max. Doug Wigton’s children are Andy Wigton (Sheilla); children Graham, Briar Rose and Henry, Emily Hansen (Joe); children Wyatt and Clara, Alex Wigton (Lisa); children Micah and Reese. Her 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren loved her dearly.
Nancy has been an active member of Leawood Presbyterian Church since moving to Overland Park in 1974. She enjoyed her many bridge groups, exercising with Silver Sneakers and the fun Golden Arches Group. She had a love for dogs and is survived by her dalmatian Smokey IV (11 yrs): now living in Omaha.
A visitation will be held from 10-10:30 AM, service 10:30 AM, with reception following, Friday, November 23rd, at Leawood Presbyterian Church, 2715 W. 83rd St. Leawood, KS 66206. In lieu of flowers she requested donations to Leawood Presbyterian Church or Wayside Waifs.
