Natalie Rogers

Natalie Michener Rogers, 88, passed away November 27, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by her family. She was born September 1, 1921 in Ridley Park, PA and graduated from Central High School and the Metropolitan Junior College in Kansas City, MO. During WWII, she sang with jazz and big bands in USO-style groups to entertain our troops.

Natalie married Richard H. Rogers on February 10, 1945. They enjoyed their three children, who gave them seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of Rainbow Girls, the Eastern Star and her breakfast club, where she met with the same group of dear friends for over 35 years. Natalie and Richard were instrumental in the fulfillment of Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision of the Steeple of Light at Community Christian Church. After Richard’s retirement they travelled extensively all over the globe.

Natalie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard H. Rogers. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Michelson, Winter Park, FL and Patty DeLiz, Overland Park, KS; and her son, Robert Rogers of Salina, KS.

Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 4th at Community Christian Church, 4601 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64112. Visitation will be from 12-1:00 P.M. on Friday at the church prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Ste 100, Kansas City, MO 64114 or to Community Christian Church.
