Neil Gustafson

July 24, 1926 — January 7, 2014

Neil Merlin Gustafson, 87, of Overland Park, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at St. Luke's South.

He was born on July 24, 1926 in Adams, ND to Melvin and Lily Gustafson. He graduated from North Dakota State College in Fargo, North Dakota in 1949.

Neil was a World War II veteran where he served as an aerial gunner.

In 1950 he married Betty Lou Martin.

He worked in management, marketing and sales in the farm equipment and automobile industry. He worked for 25 years with Hesston Corporation in Hesston, KS. While working for Hesston Corp, he made his home in Newton, KS for many years.

Neil was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church, ATO Fraternity, American Legions and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Emmy Hinderaker and one brother, Curtis Gustafson.

Neil is survived by his wife Betty Gustafson of the home; three children, Robert (Ann) Gustafson, of Lake Quivira, KS, Janet (Paul) Robinson of Overland Park, KS, David Gustafson of Richardson, TX; five grandchildren, Michael Gustafson, Jenny (Joshua) Gorenflo, John Robinson, Sam Gustafson and Calahan Gustafson; one step granddaughter, McKenzie Yost; one brother Duane Gustafson of Park River, ND.

A private funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January, 11, 2014 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
