Neil Warren Seaman, 90, Overland Park, Kansas passed away May 6, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Neil was born October 12, 1929 in Fairport, New York to Leland Ross Seaman and Myra Mae (Buck) Seaman. An education major, he graduated from William Jewell College where he played basketball and was a varsity letter winner. Neil served in the US Army in the Light Weapons and Infantryman Unit from 1953-1955, receiving an honorable discharge. He then transferred to the Army Reserves for 8 years of service, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Neil went on to have a long career in education. He earned a master’s degree in school administration from Emporia State University. After 36 years of service, he retired from being a school administrator and coach from the Turner Unified School District.
Neil is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Jean Marie (Schuricht) Seaman; son George Seaman, his wife Tami and his son, Zachary; son Jim Seaman, his wife Traci and their sons, Trent and Tyler.
A lifelong Christian, Neil was devoted to God and his family. He was a loving husband and an awesome father. Beyond that, he touched the lives of many students through the years and had a positive impact on those who knew him. He is deeply missed.
A private family funeral service will be live-streamed at 2:00 pm Monday, May 11, from the Johnson County Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Harvesters Food Bank.
