Norine Talley

February 8, 1921 — October 18, 2019

Norine Kimes Talley, 98, Lenexa, passed away Friday October 18, 2019 at Lakeview Village with her family by her side.   Norine was born February 8, 1921 on the family farm in Humansville, MO to Travis and Celia (Taylor) Kimes.   Norine graduated from Humansville High School and then went on to get her teaching certificate from Southwest Missouri State Teachers College.  She taught in a one room school house for several years in Polk County, MO.   She then met and married Joseph B. Talley, Sr.   Joe’s job took them to live in many places throughout the United States.  Norine loved being at home caring and raising their two sons.  Norine was a former member of Valley View United Methodist Church and a volunteer at the Johnson County Museum.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Talley, Sr. in 1980; her parents, Travis and Celia Kimes; sister, Mary Ruth Greenhaw; and a brother, Travis J. Kimes.   She is survived by her sons:  Joseph B. Talley, Jr. and his wife, Jeri, and Douglas E. Talley and his wife, Elena; a brother, Robert Kimes and his wife Jeanette; and three granddaughters:  Samantha Talley and her husband, Cody Snapp, Cecilia Talley, and Julia Talley.  Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave.  A private family graveside service will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Johnson County Museum.
