Noveta Mitchell

Noveta Mitchell, 89, passed away October 14, 2022.  Visitation will be from 11a-12p on Thursday, October 20, followed by services at 12pm, all at Johnson County Funeral Chapel.  Burial will take place at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Noveta’s name are suggested to Crossroads Hospice.

Noveta was born on July 11, 1933 in Bushong, Kansas, to Roy and Irene (Kicenski) Wilson.  She was raised in Miami, Oklahoma.  After her marriage to William (Jack) Mitchell on November 22, 1951, they moved to Shawnee, Kansas, where they raised their four children.  Noveta worked as a crossing guard for the City of Shawnee for many years and was an active member of TOPS.  In addition to her duties as a homemaker, she and Jack ran Midland Christmas Tree Farm in Shawnee.  She also enjoyed making ceramics, crafting, gardening, and camping in the RV.

Noveta was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Keith Mitchell; and a sister, Neva Squires.  She is survived by her son, Darrell Mitchell (wife, Caren), daughters, Karen Pare’ (husband, Reginald) and Alane Eifler (husband, Scott); seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Price.
