Olga Shelton

Olga Meyn-Shelton went to meet her Lord on December 31, 2007 at the age of 87. A Kansas City native, she was born October 17, 1920, the second daughter of Olga Hiller Meyn and John F. Meyn. She attended Ashland Elementary School and graduated at age 15 from East High School.
Olga was a member of St. Peter?s Evangelical and Reformed Church (United Church of Christ) where she met her husband, the late John Edwin (Ed) Shelton. They both sang in the Chancel Choir and other vocal groups. She and Ed were married for 56 years. Olga was a dedicated homemaker, raising her four children. Later in her life she worked for MetLife Insurance, from which she retired in 1993. For many years Olga and Ed were very active at Full Faith Church of Love, participating in many groups and choirs.
She is survived by her four children, John Edwin Shelton, Jr. (Jack) of Overland Park, KS, Anne Beadle of Shawnee, KS. Bob Shelton of Del Mar, CA and Doug Shelton of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, Suellen Shea, Jennifer Beadle, Jonathan Beadle, Kristin Clarke, Amanda Clarke, John David Shelton, Reiner Shelton and Marcus Shelton and four great grandchildren, Lauren Shea, Connor Shea, Ashton Clarke and Cooper Clarke.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, funeral service to follow, at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Burial at Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Plains Community Church, Building Fund, 6701 W. 64th Street Suite 227, Overland Park, KS 66202
