She and Edward Nugent married in 1948, and had two children, Les and Karen. Olive was a homemaker for many years, and was involved in many activities. She was both a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader, and was active in her children’s schools. She and Eddie loved dancing, from ballroom to square dancing, and belonged to the 50/50 Ballroom dance club and Arrowhead Squares. Olive went back to work at Traveler’s and later took early retirement. After obtaining a paralegal certificate from Johnson County Community College, Olive worked for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office until Eddie’s death in 1988.
In 1991, Olive married Claude “Bud” Wyrick. Olive began china painting every week, and hand-painted many pieces over the next years. Olive and Bud played Bridge, square danced, and enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren, as well as extended family. Both were very active at St. Mark’s and had many friends with whom they socialized. They enjoyed 21 years of marriage until Bud’s passing.
