OPAL WINGER WILSON, 98, DEPARTED THIS LIFE PEACEFULLY ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2008 AT THE FOXWOOD SPRINGS LIVING CENTER TO JOIN OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, WHOM SHE HAS SERVED FAITHFULLY EACH DAY OF HER LIFE.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 1:30 PM SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2008 AT D.W. NEWCOMER?S FUNERAL CHAPEL, 11200 METCALF, OVERLAND PARK, KS. PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE HELD MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3 AT MT MORIAH CEMETARY. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 12:30 ? 1:30 PM SUNDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. FAMILY MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO STAY FOLLOWING THE SERVICE.

OPAL WAS THE SECOND OF FIVE CHILDREN, BORN JULY 10, 1910 TO JESSE AND LILLIE SMITH WINGER, SKIDMORE, MO. AFTER GRADUATING FROM SKIDMORE HIGH SCHOOL, SHE ATTENDED NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE TEACHER?S COLLEGE, MARYVILLE, MO, EARNING HER TEACHER?S CERTIFICATE IN 1929. SHE TAUGHT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN NODAWAY COUNTY, MO FOR 10 YEARS; TAUGHT MORSE CODE TO SOLDIERS DURING WWII; WORKED IN HER FAMILY?S HOME BUSINESS FOR MANY YEARS; AND SPENT THE REMAINDER OF HER WORKING CAREER WITH THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE, RETIRING IN 1982.

OPAL MARRIED HAROLD L. WILSON OF SKIDMORE, MO IN 1939. AFTER WWII, THEY SETTLED IN MARYVILLE, MO WHERE THEY RAISED THEIR FAMILY. SHE WAS A LIFELONG MEMBER OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST).

OPAL?S LIFE WAS DEVOTED TO AN UNSHAKEABLE FAITHWALK WITH HER CREATOR, AND TO A SELFLESS, PROFOUNDLY NURTURING LOVE FOR HER FAMILY. ALL WHO WERE BLESSED TO HAVE KNOWN HER WILL REMEMBER HER KIND AND GENTLE SPIRIT, AND EVER-PRESENT SMILE.

OPAL WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY: HAROLD, HER HUSBAND OF 66 YEARS; HER PARENTS, JESSE AND LILLIE WINGER; SISTER LOIS WARD (DEAN); SISTER DOROTHY MARSTON (CLYDE); BROTHER WAIN WINGER (CATHERINE); INFANT SISTER, WILMA; AND TWO INFANT SONS, GERALD WAYNE AND CARL DOUGLAS WILSON. SHE LEAVES TO HONOR AND CHERISH HER MEMORY: SON STAN WILSON (MARILYN); DAUGHTER KAREN MURRAY (LAVON); DAUGHTER NORMA TIBBETTS (WAYNE); GRANDCHILDREN CHARLEY MURRAY, MICKEY MURRAY, SCOTT TIBBETTS, KARI TIBBETTS, BRIAN WILSON, AND STEVE WILSON; FOUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; AND MANY NEPHEWS AND NIECES.
