Helen O. Vick Gilman, age 89, Overland Park, Kan., passed away on July 15, 2010, at Overland Park Nursing and Rehab Center. Helen was born in Paragould, Ark., on January 3, 1921, to Henry and Odessa Chitwood. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. She married Vernon E. Vick in 1938 and moved from Bentonville, Ark., to Kansas City, Mo. Helen worked for the Muehlebach Hotel as an executive in charge of reservations. She was president of the Hotel Greeters Association of Kansas City. She married John Gilman in 1965, and they moved to Osage Beach, Mo., where Helen was in charge of reservations at Tan-Tar-A Resort. They then moved in 1977 to Overland Park, Kan., where John preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Kent A. Vick and wife Jeri of Overland Park; grandson Mark Vick of Kansas City, Mo., and niece Betty Barnes of Memphis, Tenn. A graveside service will be at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114. Arrangements: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, (913) 451-1860.
