He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and began his career at the MO Inspection Bureau where he met his wife-to-be, Katherine Downey, whom he married in 1954. Most of his career was spent as a Loss Control Consultant with R.B. Jones/Alexander and Alexander until his retirement in 1989. In his early retirement years, Dean enjoyed his Ford Model A, boating at his lake house, and woodworking. During his later years, his favorite activities were exercising with his "Silver Sneakers" clan, socializing with his Freedom Bank friends, Prairie Home Companion and The O'Reilly Factor.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife and soul mate, Katherine, and sons Chris, Danny and David. He is survived by his son, Terry Potter, daughters Sharon (Grant) Staes, Sheila (Ed) Ost and grandchildren Andrew, Rachael and Sam Staes and Natalie and Nicole Ost.
He was a great provider and a gentleman with an ornery yet sweet disposition. His giggle was infectious. He will be greatly missed. Dad, we know you will always be our angel.
