Patricia Arden Eakin Effie, 84, passed away Tuesday night, March 29th surrounded by loved ones at Olathe Hospice House. As Always, she put up a Hard Fight right to her last breath!
Pat was born on November 25th, 1931, to her parents; Glen E. Eakin and Verda Viola Weyer. She was born in Washington, District of Columbia, and her family soon moved to Falls Church, Virginia. Pat moved to Kansas City, KS with her mother, and younger brother, Robert W. Eakin at the age of 13 when her parents divorced. She attended 1 year at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk ~ Jayhawk; Go KU!), then married Melvin Sharp. They had 2 Children; Gary L. Effie and Pamela G. Olsen. Gary (& Linda) have 1 son; Robert A. Effie (& Laura). Pamela has 2 children; Michael W. Olsen and Michelle C. King (& Ric). Pat had 6 Great-Grandchildren, and her Extended Family included 2 Step-Grandchildren; and 4 Step-Great Grandchildren.
Pat was proceeded in Death by her Father, Glen Eakin; Mother, Verda Eakin; and Brother, Robert Eakin.
Pat was best known as being the sole owner of a Used Car Lot, United Auto Sales in Olathe, KS for Many years; plus owner of several other car lots previously, for a combined total of 31 years.
She was Such a Hard Worker and worked 6 days a week. She enjoyed playing Solitaire and Mahjongg on the computer, and watching her favorite T.V. shows (Law & Oder - SVU and Golden Girls). She Loved her Family and spending time with them at our many Family Functions.
Unfortunately, Pat's health put her in Chronic Pain for the last 10 years or so, and she spent SO much time between Hospital and Rehab stays. She was such a Strong Woman (& Very Independent) and insisted in remaining in her own home. She was a Very Tough, Brave and Amazing Woman and she will be Deeply Missed! We will hold Loving Memories of her in our Hearts forever!
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 9th at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Inurnment immediately following.
