PATRICIA "PATTY" SEATON MORRISON
Patricia "Patty" Seaton Morrison, 55, of Leawood, Kan., passed away November 1, 2009, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 5, at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection's Wesley Covenant Chapel in Leawood. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, at D.W. Newcomer's Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave.
A Christmas baby, Patty was born December 25, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., to Dorothy and Robert Seaton. She graduated from Lee's Summit High School in 1972 and from Southwest Missouri State University in 1976 with a bachelor of science. Patty worked in Kansas City for six months before moving to Dallas to work for Fidelity Life Insurance Co. She married Mark Story Morrison on December 1, 1979, in Kansas City. The couple made their home in Dallas, where their sons Robert Lou, Kevin Scott and Brian Frank were born. While in Dallas, Patty also worked for the Dallas Chapter of CPAs, FRED Jewelers, and served as assistant to the director of leadership development at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Mark and Patty also served as youth counselors at the church. The family moved to Houston, Texas, in 1994, and to Leawood, Kan., in 1998. Patty was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She had a huge passion for rug-hooking and needlepoint, genealogy, horses, traveling, reading, entertaining and gardening. A member of the American Needlepoint Guild, she won numerous awards for her crafts, and in recent years ran a business called A Thread of Gold. Patty also was an accomplished cook and enjoyed fine arts. She was a den leader in Cub Scout Pack 3385 and always took pride in her sons' accomplishments, including when all three became Eagle Scouts in Troop 10. Patty will be remembered as a loyal, unselfish, generous and compassionate woman.
Preceding her in death was her father, Robert Allen Seaton. Patty is survived by her husband and sons; mother, Dorothy May Raper Seaton; brother Michael Ernest Seaton; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. Lou Morrison Jr.; brother-in-law H. Louis Morrison III; sister-in-law Lucy Morrison McDaniel; nephews Christopher Haynes Morrison and Kyle Story Morrison, and nieces Katherine Morrison McDaniel and Caroline Benson McDaniel.
