Patrick M. D'Spain, 91, of Overland Park, passed away at OPRH October 28, 2012. Pat was born in Blue Rapids, KS on September 1, 1921. At 17 he enlisted in the KS National Guard. After his unit was activated, he earned a Purple Heart at Normandy. Upon discharge, he lived and worked in Cheyenne, WY, Tucson and Phoenix, AZ. He retired from the furniture business in 1988. Pat was an avid fan of the U of A Wildcats and AZ Diamondbacks. He served as a dedicated volunteer at Scottsdale Health Care for over 25 years and volunteered at many PGA golf tournaments and baseball Spring training games. He returned to KS in 2009 to be near family. Patrick was a true gentleman and a positive influence on all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Gary D'Spain (Donna) of OP, granddaughter Kelly Lyons (Steve, Katy and Emily) of Leawood, grandson Jay D'Spain (Laura, Wyatt and Izzy) of Bentonville, AR, and extended family members in Texas, Arizona and Colorado. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred D'Spain, his long time companion Barbara Finney, son Brett Michael and great-grandson James Patrick D'Spain.
