Patrick Morrissey, age 63, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away November 1, on the Feast of All the Saints, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by family and friends. However, we rejoice that he left us to be welcomed by all the saints in God's kingdom. Born November 25, 1944, in Jackson, Mich., Pat moved with his family to Girard, Mich., at the age of 2. Thirteen years later, he asked MerryEllen (Schray of Coldwater, Mich.) to go tobogganing. Their young courtship developed into a long and loving marriage.
Pat is survived by his wife of 41 years, MerryEllen, son Benjamin and his wife Tessa, daughter Nichole and her husband Loren Smith, and daughter Tricia and her husband Mark Ready, grandchildren Hunter, Noah and Bailey, mother Elaine Morrissey, sisters Mary- Michael Morrissey and Nancy Lamberson, and brother Leo Morrissey and his wife Judie, as well as by many much- loved and much-teased nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Pat worked in international sales and marketing for Central Soya, Salsbury Laboratories and Butler Manufacturing/Brock Grain Systems. After 17 years in international business, which carried him and his family around the globe, he became vice president of sales and marketing for Butler/Brock. In 2004 Pat realized a lifelong dream and formed his own company. He enjoyed his final years of work and time with family immensely. Pat will be remembered for his excellent sense of humor, gracious generosity, bone-deep integrity and quiet courage. He loved his family and friends without regard to cost or consequence and could always, always be counted on. He has passed on wisdom that will reverberate in our hearts and minds and be handed on to the next generation.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 8, 10:30 a.m., at the Stone Chapel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (9130 Pflumm, Lenexa, Kan.). Lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sister Servants of Mary (800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, KS 66102) or Uplift Organization, Inc. (1516 Prospect Ave., Kansas City, MO 64127).
