Paul J. Eriksen, age 79, Cape Coral, Florida; formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 9th at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Paul was born April 14, 1929 to Paul H. and Mary (Myers) Eriksen in Lamar, Missouri. He served his country in the Korean War as a Combat Engineer, 578th. He was a life member of American Legion Post #153; 40&8 Voiture, Locale 1510; VFW life member; member of Moose Lodge #1999, Kansas City, Kansas; Eagles Lodge, Merriam, Kansas; and the Elks Lodge, Sweet Springs, Missouri. Paul worked many years for the City of Overland Park in the Public Works Department until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Mae Eriksen. He is survived by his brother, Ray Eriksen, Genoa, Nebraska; children, Gracie Anderson, Kansas City, Missouri, Frank Pippen, Noel, Missouri, and William Pippen, Kansas City, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and special companion Mary Weissenfluh. Paul was lovingly cared for until his death by his granddaughter, Peggy Graham of Cape Coral, Florida, and Mary Weissenfluh of Olathe, Kansas. Arrangements, D.W.
