Paul was born March 28, 1928 to Frank and Anna Larson in Kansas City, KS. He was a 1946 graduate of Lillis High School and a 1952 graduate of Rockhurst College. In between were two years of service in the US Marine Corps. On September 29, 1956, in Kansas City, MO, he married Mary Ann Westerman, who preceded him in death in 1999. On August 24, 2001, he received what he called his “mulligan” and married Trudy Baldwin in Overland Park, KS. Paul was truly blessed with two wonderful wives.
His working career was spent mainly in sales and sales management and he retired in 1996 from the company he started with his good friend John Doyle. He went to his grave convinced that John secretly sent him and Mary Ann to Ireland in 1991. Paul’s career started in Kansas City and took the family to Green Bay, WI and St. Louis, MO. In retirement he lived in Hot Springs Village, AR and the last 14 years in Overland Park.
Paul is survived by his wife, Trudy Larson, of the home. Not enough can be said about Trudy’s love and care for Paul. He is also survived by his children Steve (Deb) Larson of Overland Park, KS, Mark (Scottie) Larson of Chicago, IL, Mary Beth Rock (Dennis) of Lewisville, TX and Jeanne Larson of Dallas, TX. Also surviving are Trudy’s daughter, Christie (Mike) Crump of Shawnee Kansas and son-in-law Jon (Beverly) Braatz of Westwood, KS. Grandchildren surviving are Stephanie Larson, Alexandria Larson, Paul Larson, Jersey Boydstun-Larson, Ben Larson, Mac Larson, Mary Leigh Rock, Lauren (Shad) Woodworth, Jessie (Todd) Fowler, James Crump, Jennifer (Russell) Stover, Christina Braatz and two great-grandchildren, Jaeda (Larson) Wilkins and Marcie Mae Fowler. Paul also leaves his sister, Fran (Sandy) Sanford of Gladstone, MO and was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Frank, Anne, Helen, Ted & Nora.
Paul lived a long and blessed life and was a shining example of a Catholic man. He was full of life and full of wisdom and sayings. We are all lucky to have had him for so long. He always said, “I’m not trying to set the world on fire, I’m just trying to keep my little butt warm”. We believe he did set the world on fire as a husband, Dad, brother, grandfather and friend, and made it a better place for all of us. Rest in peace, Big Paul!
