Paul T. Provas, 63, of Arlington, TX passed away October 23, 2014 after a hard fight and courageous battle with brain cancer. Paul was born on May 28, 1951 in Kansas City to Thomas & Georgia Provas.
Baseball was always his passion. Provas was a professional baseball scout for the Chicago White Sox, starting in 1992. Provas first began scouting with the Chicago Cubs.
He was inducted into both the Texas Scouts Association and The Midwest Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame in 2011. In college he played and coached at Johnson County Community College. Provas also played baseball in the Ban Johnson League.
During his off season, he enjoyed golf and was an avid KU basketball fan.
He is survived by his mother, Georgia Provas; sister, Valerie Boyer; the love of his life, Loreen Silva; niece, Brooke Boyer; and brother-in-law, Bill Boyer. He was preceded in passing by his father, Thomas Provas.
A visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park. A funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, also at the chapel. Interment will take place in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to JCCC Foundation, in the memo, please designate it to “The Paul Provas Scholarship Fund” for a fund and/or memorial tree planting at JCCC. These contributions may be sent directly to the funeral home.
