Peggy Marshall Cheek, age 90, of Overland Park Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born in High Point North Carolina on November 15, 1927. She grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. In 1948 she married Ben F. Cheek. Soon afterward they moved west to the Kansas City area where they built a life, ran a successful business, and raised a family.
Peggy was a devoted mother and grandmother, a devout Christian, and passionate about her friends and community. She was a tireless volunteer at her church, the local food pantry, and countless other community organizations.
Peggy was a talented and determined woman who excelled at anything she put her mind to, and she remained a lifelong learner. Above all she lived each day with unshakeable faith, optimism, compassion and genuine love for other people.
She is survived by her sons and daughters David and Janice Cheek, Michael Cheek and Kathy Brown, her granddaughter and son Cassandra and Michael Sewell, and great grandson Benjamin Connor Sewell.
Private services will be held for the family.
