Peggy Perdue Harris Herdt ~ November 2, 1931 - July 2,2009

On July 2, 2009, Peggy passed away peacefully in her sleep in the arms of family and God. Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Beth, and her second husband of 28 years, John W. Herdt. Peggy leaves behind the following; her big sister and second Mother, Elizabeth Hyde (Perdue) of Dallas, TX, son, Russell C. Harris III (Chip), 53, of Coconut Creek, Fl, loving daughter, Nancy Sue Harris-DeSisto, 49, of Palm City, Fl, son, Christopher J. Harris, 48, of Shawnee, Ks, and the siblings devoted spouses, Julie, Ralph, and Marla respectively. The children blessed her with eight grandchildren; Charles, Annabelle, Cameron, Natore, Totiana, Christopher (Jr.), Tyler and Landon, and one great grandchild. In her second marriage, she acquired another five daughters and sons, Bud Herdt, Arlene Puhr, Marilyn (Kay) Wolfe, Kathy Davis, and Karen Orf. Their children are; Debbie, Bobby and Leslie, Sean and Danny, Jason and Bryan, Jessica and Jamie, respectively, and a host of great grandchildren.

Peggy was the daughter of James and Naomi Perdue born November 2, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo. She attended Central United Methodist Church, Southwest High School, University of Missouri, and graduated from the School of Nursing at St. Luke's Hospital. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. When married to her first husband, Russell C Harris Jr., while residing in Elgin, Illinois, she was extremely active in many social, public and First United Methodist Church of Elgin activities. During her second marriage to John W. Herdt of Russell, Kan., they resided in Johnson County, Kan., where she was active as Lady Peggy in the Abdallah Shrine. They retired to Sun lakes Arizona in 1994 where they enjoyed their later years and were members of the local Lions Club. In 2008 they moved back home to their loved ones in Kansas due to health concerns.

Services are to be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Central United Methodist Church, 5144 Oak St., Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, or cards, please send respects to: Peggy Herdt Trust 21207 W. 51st Place, Shawnee, KS 66218, where all funds will be sent to the above mentioned Organizations.
