Phillip Torno

November 27, 1946 — August 2, 2008

Phillip Torno, 61, of Olathe passed away August 2, 2008 at Kansas City Hospice House with his wife by his side. Phillip was born November 27, 1946 to David and Helene Torno, and was a lifetime resident of Overland Park, KS until 1997 when he moved to Olathe. He and Peggy were married on August 16, 1969. Phil was a talented artist and photographer. He has left his wife with many beautiful photographs and pictures which illustrate the creative journey of his life with Peggy and his many friends.

Mr. Torno was preceded in death by his parents. He was also preceded in death by his precious retired and rescued greyhounds, Weathery, Bogey and Barney and two little dachshunds, Tammy and Sara. Phil is survived by his wife of 39 years, Peggy; his two little dogs, Katie and Bob; his sister-in-law, Penny Saunders and her husband Chuck and many devoted friends.

Peggy would like to thank Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care and The Kansas City Hospice House for the dedicated and compassionate care given to Phil and her. Special thanks are also given to friends and family who gave their support and love to Phil.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2008 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. with memorial service to follow at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Inurnment to follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens Courtyard of Memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City Retired Greyhounds As Pets, Animal Haven or Wayside Waifs.
