Phil had a zest for life and everything he was involved in. He always wanted everyone around him to have fun and be happy. That ultimate goal turned into great success for him and those around him including family, friends, and even strangers who quickly turned into friends. With his success he was able to help even more people by supporting St. Teresa’s Academy, Lily’s House, The Sister Servants of Mary, Shrine Rodeo, Fore The Kids, Shrine Christmas Fantasy, Childrens Wish Foundation, many other organizations and numerous scholarships for many different organizations.
Phil started RoadBuilders Machinery in October of 1985 and it continues to thrive today with offices in Kansas and Nebraska. The company quickly grew to be one of the top construction equipment dealers in the Midwest. RoadBuilders family will greatly miss Phil and his passion for the business. Phil was a great mentor, leader, and friend to his employees, customers and suppliers.
Phil had another passion in ranching. It started as a hobby in Toronto, Kansas and quickly turned into Bar M Ranch. It is now a full time operation for Black and Red Angus cow/calf ranching. Phil enjoyed feeding and doctoring cattle, fixing fences, maintaining the property, cutting hay, and anything else he could do with family and friends at the ranch.
Phil was an avid sports fan including Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas Jayhawks, and Wichita State Shockers. He enjoyed Blackjack in Vegas and with friends and family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golf. Phil was most famous for his steaks. There were many of us that made special trips for one.
Phil loved life and everyone around him. He always saw the best in everyone and was the Rock of his family. Phil was full of passion and passionate with everything he was involved with. Phil always used to convince those around him to have one more nightcap. We all wish we could. We will all miss him more than words can express
