Ralph Schowengerdt, 81, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013.
Ralph was born June 14, 1932, in Higginsville, MO, to Louis and Viola Schowengerdt. He was employed with Kansas City Kansas Fire Department for 32 years and retired as Captain. Ralph for most of his life was Lutheran and attended Our Saviour Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his family, faith, traveling and the outdoors. Ralph loved living his life helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Louis Albert Schowengerdt.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith Schowengerdt; two sons, Joe (Georgianne) and David; daughter, Karen (Mike); three granddaughters, Michelle (Ryan), Bonnie (Cliff) and Vanessa (Mike); three great grandchildren, Luke, Layne and Lauren (Children of Michelle); sister, Joan (Dwight) Mahan.
A funeral service for Ralph will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
