May 15, 1930 — March 23, 2019

Ramona (Mona) Batthauer, a long-time resident of Strongsville, Ohio, and more recently of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, the 23rd of March, 2019, at The Heritage of Overland Park.

Ramona was born May 15, 1930, in Elkhart, KS, to Frenchy and Vanita Lavielle. She had one brother, James Max Lavielle. Ramona graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1948, and married her high school sweetheart, Byron Batthauer a year later. They lived in Hawaii while Byron served in the Navy, and Ramona gave birth to their first child, Steve, August 1, 1956. Job opportunities eventually took the family back to St. Louis, MO, and finally to Strongsville, Ohio, where they resided for more than 40 years. Their daughter Susan was born in 1964, in Berea, Ohio. Ramona and Byron returned to Kansas in 2002 to be near their grandchildren where they lived out the rest of their days. Ramona was fun-loving, adored gardening, was an avid reader and loved her family and friends.

Ramona is survived by her son, Steve Batthauer (Jennifer), daughter, Sue Coates (Chris), grandsons, Chad (20) and Ben (18), sister-in-law, Izetta Lavielle, nephew, Danny Lavielle and nieces, Dianne Martin and Jeannie Barth.
