Randell L. Beaver, 61, of Waverly, KS, passed away March 22, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Randy was born in Iola, KS on November 12, 1956 to Raymond and Patricia Beaver. He was the last born of four children. His twin brother Raymond was his best friend and they could talk for hours on the phone. Randy moved to Emporia, KS at the age of sixteen. He worked and played there until his met his wife Christina R. Lockwood and their daughter Jessica Lockwood. Christina took one look at him and knew instantly they would be together forever. They married November 12, 1977 on his 21st birthday. In the 40 years they were married Randy never once laid eyes on another woman, Christina was his everything. Soon came two more daughters, Casey A. Rangel and Miranda E. Walker. Their family was complete.
They would build their life in Emporia where Randy worked at Bunge Corporation until his health no longer allowed him to work. He raised his three girls with love, laughter, and a good serving of discipline when needed. Randy and his family would spend every free moment out at Melvern Lake camping, boating, and fishing where he and his wife could excel at their passions of fishing and raising their babies.
He was fantastic with all children and they all gravitated towards him. All the kids that came in contact with him knew him as Grandpa Ranny. Growing up with him meant being swung around the living room to his favorite country songs. His sense of humor meant that you better be careful walking around the corner because he was likely there ready to scare the daylights right out of you. He was known for his songwriting abilities and was able to turn any bodily function into a song. He was blessed with two amazing sons-in-law’s, Agustin Rangel and Michael Walker. The rewards of his life began to arrive shortly after, with his is first grand baby, Tomasa Rose, grief visited by the loss of our unborn angel Angelica, followed by our kind-hearted Savannah Elaine, and his first boy Caden Jacob and best friend. Jessica soon brought home a beautiful little girl, Serenity, and the moment they held her in their arms they were smitten. Finally, the last to be born Nevaeh, his princess. No matter if the grandchild was blood, adopted, or fostered they were precious and he adored them all.
After the birth of their grandchildren they found their forever home in Waverly, KS. He loved the town and the people in it who welcomed them with open arms. He loved to root for the Bulldogs and his grand kids. He and his wife attended the Methodist Church until he became too ill to attend; even then, the church and pastors continued to visit and pray for him. He appreciated their support and love.
As he grew tired, he enjoyed watching TV, the Chiefs, and Royals. He and Savannah never missed a game together. You were also likely to find his bubba (Caden) on the arm of his chair and surrounded by all his grand kids.
To sum Randy up, he was firm when warranted, gentle when it was needed, and fun when it counted. He was so proud of his family and showed them all how important family is and that it should come before everything, except God. He was one of the good ones, a rare breed who put others before himself. His life’s work was to be the best husband, father, and grandfather he could be. A man who would hang on till the end of the earth to spend one more day with his family. You couldn’t help but love him and want to be a part of his life. The loss of this man will forever leave a hole in our hearts but we blessed to know that he is with our Lord and Savior.
Randy was preceded in death by his father; mother; two sisters, Sharon Beaver, and Patricia Powers; and an infant nephew Michael Conley.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Beaver of Waverly; daughters, Jessica Cuevas, Casey Rangel (Agustin) both of Waverly, and Miranda Walker (Michael) of Pleasant Hill, MO; grandchildren: Tomasa Rangel, Savannah Rangel, Caden Walker, Serenity Lockwood, Nevaeh Walker, Devan Perry, Tyler Schmitt, Kelsie Mailen, Parker and Gibson Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews; one great niece and great-great nephew – he loved them all dearly.
