Dr. Randy Lee Brooks of Leawood, Kansas passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the age of 77. Randy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Gene and Eleanor Brooks (Frey) who preceded him in death.
As a young boy, Randy was fascinated by science and technology. He specifically had a love for rockets and anything space related. This love for the sciences continued throughout his life and helped him to pursue a career as an Oral Maxillofacial surgeon. Randy attended KU and Southern Methodist University where he obtained a BS in Chemistry. He then went on to UMKC where he completed Dental School and his Oral Surgery Residency. Randy practiced oral surgery for many years in the Kansas City area and contributed to opening the first outpatient surgery center in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Over the course of his life, Randy had many interests and passions. He participated in golf, baseball, basketball and football in high school. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time in the mountains or on the ocean enjoying activities such as fly-fishing, hunting, hiking, and birdwatching. Travel was a central part of all his adventures, along with the friends he made along the way. He truly never met a stranger.
Randy is survived by his brother, Dr. Scott and wife, Vicki, of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by his sons, Zachary, of Winter Garden, Florida, and Douglas and wife Adri, of Mission, Kansas. Randy leaves behind two beautiful grandsons, Noah (7) and Levi (6) of Winter Garden, Florida. He also leaves behind his friend and constant companion, his dog Toby of the home.
