Ray W. Edsall, 87, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away September 25, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, the Red Bridge United Methodist Church, 636 E. 117th St., Kansas City, MO 64131. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the church. Ray was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Brookfield, Mo. He was the son of Earl W. Edsall and Ethyl Obenchain Edsall. He graduated from Central High School of Kansas City in 1939. He fought in WWII with the 71st Infantry in Europe. On Sept. 8, 1946, he married Ruby M. Rockey of Robinson, Kan. He worked as a Field Auditor for Traveler's Insurance for 36 years, retiring in 1988. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and step mother, Hallie Obenchain Edsall, sister, Vivian Mae Campbell and son, Brian Edsall. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, son, Dr. Dennis Edsall, grandchildren, Peter, Andrew and Abby, all of Kansas City.
