Ray S. Taylor, 87, of Mission, KS, died June 25th, after a two-year illness from complication of Shingles. Ray was born November 11, 1924 in Verona, MO to Arthur S. and Hattie (Hillhouse) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Cosby Taylor, sisters, Myrene Park and Mary Stephens. He is survived by Georgene, his wife of 32 years, son, Robert (Laura) Taylor, daughters, Linda Brown and Mary White, step-daughter, Nolanda (John) Crain, sister, Catherine Taylor, and Phyllis Savner, mother of his children. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 7great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Ray retired from the Board of Public Utilities in 1987. He was the quintessential handyman, proficient in all areas including auto mechanic and body man.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 29th, 1:30-2:30 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
