Raymond J. Mead, 77, died Saturday, April 23, 2016. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 29, 9:30am to 11:30am at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
Raymond was born in Washington, D.C. on November 23, 1938 to Bernard J. Mead and Vera Shephard Mead. At age 11 he moved to Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Turner High School in 1956. He joined the United States Army in 1960 and served three years in the 97th Signal Battalion in Germany. He returned to Kansas where he attended and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1965. Raymond then began his 37 year career in trust departments at various banks. Upon retirement, Raymond and his wife Margaret traveled to all of the continents. Raymond enjoyed playing golf and reading.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of 51 years, his children Doris, Charles, Jane and Andrew, his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving Raymond are his siblings, Fran McCollum, Barbara Berry, and Alan Mead.
