Reatha Azel Browning Adams, aged 91, of Kansas City, Kansas died at Emeritus of Overland Park on April 16, 2014.
Reatha was born January 29, 1923 in Amber, Oklahoma, to E.E. 'Bud' and Lillie Browning. She attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. On June 29, 1950 she was married to Glen Adams.
Reatha was one of 12 siblings whom she loved dearly. She grew up during the Depression Era. She was a devoted pastor's wife, a wonderful school teacher, and an incredible and loving Mother. She loved children and dedicated 30 years of her life to the public schools in Oklahoma and in Kansas City, Kansas. She was part of "The Browning Sisters' Quartet", that she and her sisters delighted others with their singing. Reatha was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene in Lenexa, Kansas.
Reatha is survived by her children: Jannifer Nelson, San Diego, California, Reginald Adams (Delia), Overland Park, Kansas, Melodie Cole (Paul Jr.), Broken Arrow, OK, Cherri Stoltzfus (Byron), Olathe, Kansas; Siblings: Donna Browning (Darrell), Edward Browning (Loretta Jean), Elsie Browning Grout; her Grandchildren: Paul Cole III, Gabriel Cole, Brooke Cole, Brittni Girk, Kyli Fink .
She was preceded in death by: Reaford Browning (twin brother), Ray Browning (brother), Vera Browning Hardy (sister), Estalee Browning Aduddell(sister), Juanita Browning Motley(sister), Hazel Browning Phillips (sister), Lillian Browning Ingersol (sister), Moree Browning Brace (sister), Byron J. Stoltzfus (grandson).
The Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 12600 West 87th Street Parkway, Lenexa, Kansas (913) 541-2600. The Funeral service will follow at 11, with the burial taking place at Oaklawn Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
