Rebecca Marie Trites, 25, passed away on August 25 wrapped in prayer, presence, and song. She was a teacher, a musician, an artist in the kitchen, and a lover of children. Rebecca’s infectious smile and warm heart truly touched the lives of her many students, friends, and family. She maintained her sharp wit and fierce spirit throughout her battle with small-cell cancer.
She is survived by her parents Barbara and Ralph; brother, Andrew; and sister, Elizabeth, as well as an army of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
We will celebrate Rebecca’s life with a visitation on Friday August 26 from 4-6PM at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS and a funeral service Saturday August 27 at 1pm at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shawnee Mission Medical Center’s
Cancer Center, 9301 W. 74th Street, Suite 100, Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd. Kansas City, MO, or Operation Breakthrough, 3039 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64109.
