Rebekkah Marrye Carpenter, 27, went to be with her Lord Jesus, Sunday, February 26, 2012, after a long illness. She was a confined vent patient.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, March 3, with visitation beginning one hour prior at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel. Burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
A native of Oklahoma, Bekie was born to James and Judy Carpenter in 1984 in Hominy, Okla. She was home-schooled by her mother, and enjoyed growing up on an acreage near Ralston, Okla., where she liked to ride her horse, Scout.
In Overland Park, Bekie was employed by Macy's as a jewelry clerk and received honors as a meritorious employee.
Bekie is survived by her mother, Judith L. Carpenter, and her grandfather, Allan McGhee, of the home; her step-sister Amanda Carpenter, of Tulsa, Okla.; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was preceeded in death by her father, James T. Carpenter, a local contractor in Ralston, Okla.
Bekie was an "e-member" of Eagle Mountain International Church in Fort Worth, Texas, and has always professed a strong faith in Christ. She will be missed by all who were inspired by her courage and upbeat attitude.
