Rex Wood
Rex Guthrie Wood, 78, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21at the D.W. Newcomer's Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf.
Rex was born July 16, 1934 in Caddo, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering, and worked for Black & Veatch Engineers, where he retired after 36 years of service. He was also a graduate of the Command and General staff College in Leavenworth, KS, retiring with the rank of Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve. For the past several years he has been a realtor with Reece & Nichols.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jan; his son Glenn Charles (known to Rex as "Charlie"), and his wife LeAnn Gish Wood, of Houston, TX, and his daughter, Leslie Lynn Wood, of Overland Park; his brother David Wood, of Overland Park, KS; and sisters Lynda Brown, and her husband Harry, of Dayton, OH, and Diane Wood, of Caddo, OK; and three grandsons Brian, Kevin, and Ethan Wood, of Houston, TX who knew him as "granddad."
Rex was a good, honorable man, who will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
