Richard A. Klover, 46, of Overland Park, KS, passed away from Melanoma Cancer on Friday, February 19, 2010, at home with family by his side. Richard was born January 28, 1964, in Marysville, KS, to Paul and Carol Klover. Richard grew up in Manhattan, graduated from Manhattan High School and Kansas State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1987. He married Kelly Bingesser of Salina, KS, in 1984 and moved to Kansas City in 1987 upon graduation to begin employment with Burns & McDonnell, an engineering consulting firm where he spent his entire professional career. He had many outstanding years in the company's Energy Mechanical Department before his promotion to the Project Management Group. In 2006, Richard was promoted to the position of Associate Vice President of the Energy Group. Richard was a past chairman of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, as well as a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. He held membership in the Kansas State Alumni Association and the Electric Power Affiliates Program.
Richard enjoyed golf, water and snow skiing, traveling, hiking and many different sporting events especially Kansas State Athletics and the Kansas City Chiefs. Richard enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, granddaughter, family and many friends. Richard was also active in a Bible Study fellowship.
Richard was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, Edward and Mildred Sedlacek, and Rudolf and Verna Klover.
Richard is survived by his wife Kelly; his three children, Kristi Rutschman, husband Tyler and granddaughter Kaylee of Shawnee, KS, Jamie and Andrew of Overland Park, KS; parents, Paul and Carol Klover of Manhattan, KS; brother, Robin Klover, wife Lynn and family of Mead, CO; brother, Ryan Klover, wife Lara and family of Lone Jack, MO; sister, Ronna Blazer, husband Kevin and family of Shawnee, KS; grandmother, Ruth Klover of Marysville, KS; in-laws, Sandy and Jerry Robinson of Salina, KS, Jon Bingesser of Beloit, KS, Beth Brown of Salina, KS, Brad and Michael Bingesser and families of Olathe, KS; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may either be made to Vitas Hospice or the American Melanoma Foundation.
